Hey there! I’m Joseph. Some call me Joe. Welcome to my blog!
The word Areté is a Greek word that is literally translated to mean “virtue”, but was used to mean “the selfless pursuit of excellence” or “obtaining one’s highest human potential.” The word was descriptive of men and women who utilized all parts of their being – intelligence, courage, strength, knowledge – to achieve immeasurable results.1 My intention with this blog is, then, to share with you my experiences and philosophies in my personal pursuit to maximize my potential.
A little about me…
Currently I’m an undergraduate at Utah Valley University getting my degree in Neuroscience. I’m certified as an EMT-I with the state of Utah, and love every opportunity I get in that field. I’m planning on studying at an Allopathic Medical School after college, and am considering specialties in the following:
- Neurological Surgery (Brain and Spinal Surgery)
- Cardiothoracic Surgery (Heart Surgery)
- Emergency Medicine (ER Doctor)
I began Martial Arts when I was seven years old, and have been doing various styles of Karate and Taekwondo ever since. I currently have a black belt in Kwon Shu Karate as well as American Taekwondo. I started learning the piano about two years ago, and am diligently developing that skill and passion. I can solve a Rubik’s Cube in just about a minute (yes, I timed myself), and I have Pi memorized to 45 decimal places.
I will try diligently to be part of active discussion, so if you have a question about a post, go ahead and comment! I’ll see it. If you have any questions or feedback, head over to the contact page and get a hold of me that way. Enjoy your stay!
